The FIELD Trip Lab is led by Dr. Catherine Dornfeld Tissenbaum, an assistant professor of Curriculum & Instruction at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her doctoral advisees include:
- Emma Kirby, a fourth-year PhD student with expertise in anthropology who is studying effective supports for marginalized groups in engineering programs.
- Annie McClellan, a third-year PhD student and former teacher who is studying how emerging technologies can support teacher's day-to-day workloads, thus improving teacher retention.
Lab alumni include:
- McKenna Lane, an assistant professor at the University of Nevada, Reno. McKenna studied the design processes for developing standards-aligned, scaffolded learning experiences for K-12 use. McKenna also worked as an instructional designer with the Natural History Museum of Utah.
Internal collaborators include Dr. Mónica González Ybarra and Dr. Idalia Nuñez. External collaborators include Dr. Stina Krist (Stanford); Heather Coyle and Peggy Doty (U of I Extension); Rachel Storm, Kamila Glowacki, and Ishita Dharap (Krannert Art Museum); and the Urbana School District #116.
